When Nature Responds to City
This site is located in the heart of Taipei. The project aims to revitalize the old market of GuangFu. Traditional markets are thought to be dark, unclaen, and not well-ventilated. Despite these flaws, markets are good social space for nearby residents. Therefore, making the new marketplace bright, clean, and well ventilated becomes the top priority. With the addition of the hostel, there is more opportunity for social interaction between the locals and international travelers. I hope to create a space with natural elements to allow people to walk around and chat with each other.
Concept
1 Double Site
2 Underground Market

This project demands two separate programs, a market and a hostel. For the ease of use, the market is placed on lower floor. Not only is vegetation placed on ground floors, the hostel on the upper floors also has its own gardens.
The market is set from B1 to 2F, instead of from ground floor to the third floor for easier access. It also allows more sun light and breeze to enter the market. This configuration also creates a strong sense of space.
